Life Size Glazed Stoneware

As an artist with an interest in the commonalities between different cultural myths, I chose to focus on a project based between Greek and Roman goddesses. I was particularly interested in the characteristic of gods and goddesses and how they show the same moral duality that humans share. “God created man in the image of himself.” These sculptures represent Artemis and Diana, which is essentially the same goddess. The sculptures are reaching towards each other becoming one entity, balanced, complete, yet retaining different attributes. The title originates from the names Agrotera meaning wild land (associated with Artemis) and Dium meaning sky (associated with Diana). The eternal struggle of duality between light, shadow, strength and vulnerability of femininity.

Thanks to Juliana Laury for the first wonderful image.
